Went out hunting yesterday around 6pm w/ the temp around 92. Thought I would take a look at a pond on my way to the stand.  Quietly walked up & didn't see anything.  Just as I was starting out for the stand I heard a pig shaking its ears back & forth.  I had heard a monster hog do it 2x before while in a stand.  We had been trying to get this guy for months but he was very smart & spooked if he saw any light on or around him.  (Spooked 3x w/ various members of my family & our red Destroyer lights). I froze & looked again, no sign of a hog.  Slowly stepped up on a small rise & saw an ear. Then I made out a shoulder lying in a deep wallow in the shade.  I had no idea how big it was but thought it might be the big one.   Took aim from about 30 yards w/ my new AR 223 my husband gave me for Christmas. After the first shot, I saw a leg move so squeezed off 2 more quickly-not wanting to track him through the thicket.  The last 2 proved to be overkill, but I wasn't sure since it was my first kill w/ the 223. Once my husband showed up with out the rope, we had to put him in the 4 wheeler basket!  lol  350lbs, took 15 min. to figure out how to get the monster in there!  He was corn fed & fat!  AR Hoghunter is a powerlifter & it was still a challenge w/ both of us pulling & sweating our tails off!  His head alone was around 32 lbs!  Wish we would have gotten a better pic of his choppers-they were big & sharp.  Sliced my finger just getting a stick in his mouth. Won't make that mistake again.  Can't wait to cook him up.

Keep an eye out on those wallows in hot weather.
